Event Details
Please register to come to City Hall on October 20 2011 if you, or your organisation need to be more effectively involved with Deaf graduate education and employment, or Deaf volunteer projects in the UK or abroad.
The event will focus on Deaf Unity’s ground-breaking London Deaf Learner project and the issues involved along with the opportunity it represents for educators, Deaf service providers and employers, and how together we can deliver the next generation of top Deaf role models and project leaders.
Deaf Unity's London Deaf Learners project will aim to increase the number of Deaf youths applying and studying at University, and to support those leaving University and entering the job market. This sets as it's goal to address the lack of qualified and confident Deaf professionals who aspire to be Leaders in their communities.
Hosted by 
Deaf Unity will be holding the London Deaf Learners launch event within the breath-taking Living Room suite at the top of City Hall on the evening of October 20 2011. The event is hosted by the London Sustainable Development Commission (LSDC) through their London Leader programme.
The evening will see the coming together of Commissioners from the LSDC, from the GLA, members of the Deaf community, representatives from top Universities. You can expect to hear speakers lending support, talking about the issues that need to be tackled at a strategic level and brainstorming sessions.
Deaf Unity would like to extend an invitation to those who have relevant areas of interest. Please reserve your ticket if you are involved in, or would like to be involved in:
- Deaf Education
- Training and recruitment of graduates
- Supporting/volunteering with Deaf people both domestically and internationally
- Employers committed to benefiting from a more diverse workforce
- Funders interested in effecting sustainable change in London, the UK and Internationally
